Maintaining good oral health is crucial for overall well-being, but dental care can be costly, especially for families with limited financial resources. Therefore, the interim Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a much-needed support system for eligible families to make dental care more accessible.
This program provides financial assistance to families with an annual income of less than $90,000, whose children are under 12 years old and don’t have access to private dental insurance. Depending on their net income, families can receive a tax-free payment of either $260, $390, or $650 for each eligible child. It is important to note that this dental benefit is available for only two periods, and families can receive a maximum of two payments per eligible child.
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) manages the benefit payments, and the first benefit period is for children under 12 years old as of December 1, 2022, who receive dental care from October 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
